Caught In The Middle speaks of the difficulty which this life poses in that the believer is in a battle between the Lord and the devil. On one side glory beckons; on the other side, the fading pleasures of living for self call. The Scriptures tell us that the believer’s responsibilities are to stake his claim for God’s side (Joshua 24:15), that to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), and to fight for heaven’s side (Ephesians 6:12-13).
The clue is tied to Julie by way of heritage. Her mother is Chinese and her father is Caucasian. While I didn’t truly know whether this was true for Julie, it turns out that children of bicultural marriages sometimes find themselves “caught in the middle” between cultures. It can be a difficult situation, and is analogous to the Christian’s challenge of being a citizen of heaven who must fight against the influence of the world.
Put on your armor!
Take up your sword!
Take up your shield!
Stand in the Lord!
You’re caught in the middle of a battle for your faith
Between the armies of hell and the holy Lord,
You’re caught in the middle of a battle for your faith,
But God is in control; He’s won the war.
Halfway to heaven,
Feet on the ground, your soul bound for glory above,
Between the combatants,
Demons of hate, the God who is great in His love,
They call for enlistment on their sides,
You must take your stand at the center of the fight.
Halfway decisions
Cannot exist, so resist the temptation to stall,
Declare your allegiance,
Follow the Son, choose the One who is Lord over all,
Jesus will protect your and defend,
He is the One on whom you must depend.
Put on your armor!
Take up your sword!
Take up your shield!
Stand in the Lord!
