About

I started Choraegus ShareMusic as a way to share my music with the public. My initial impression was that I was arriving a bit late in the game. What I didn’t know, being a newbie, was that 1995 actually was still in the beginning stages of the Internet. There were only about 25,000 Web sites back then, as compared to 2006 when the 100-million-site milestone was shattered.

Anyway, I started uploading the music I’d been writing for Living Water, the choir I was leading at Valley Church (Cupertino, CA), and swiftly progressed into other areas as well, including music for other types of vocal ensembles, handbells, and instrumental ensembles. As my involvement in the music world has grown, so have my interests and their applications.

Handbells became part of my life in 1987, and a bit after that I started writing for that instrument as well. I’ve had the privilege of having compositions accepted by a number of publishers, and that’s exciting news. But… since I have my own music company, adding music to the Choraegus catalog makes it available to the public more quickly, so more and more handbell pieces have appeared here in the years since. It also ensures that no works go out of print, or even run out of stock!

As of September 2012, my wife Carla and I are exploring new and wonderful vistas as we perform and teach as handbell musicians. We’re producing what we think is some remarkably interesting eight-bell music that will blow your socks off. Our self-determined rule is that we won’t post something until we’re satisfied with the video for each piece – that way, we can show you how it’s played and how it sounds. If you’re interested, too, you can book us for a concert or a workshop!

We’ve expanded into works for six, twelve, and sixteen bells as well as scores for full-sized handbells choirs. Because of this, we’ve also learned to make videos for all of these types of works. It’s been lots of fun to create demos that you can watch and hear!

If you want a custom-built handbell piece for your ensemble, you can request one by contacting us. Leave a message, and we can talk about what you’d like to do.

Read on, explore this site, and enjoy what’s here. I’m hoping that we’ll have the privilege of sharing music – and if time, energy, and opportunity permit, also making some together too!

LWCP

The Living Water Composition Project Living Water is the choir which I directed, first at Valley Church (Cupertino, California), and later First Presbyterian Church (Mountain View, California). Hi Bonnie!

It’s great to hear from you! I’m going to have to try to retrieve the track from another source – my hard drive died a year ago and I’m afraid I lost all of those files. 🙁

Right now I’m just dealing in PDF music scores – the $25 provides the PDF and the license to make the copies you need. If you need another copy, though, I’d be happy to send you one gratis!

    Larry :)…
