Negro spirituals are a vibrant and poignant expression of faith from over a century ago. This one speaks of complete reliance on a Savior who cares and comforts even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen / Nobody knows but Jesus
Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen / Glory, Hallelujah
Sometimes I’m up and sometimes I’m down
Yes, Lord, you know sometimes I’m almost to the ground
Oh, yes, Lord, still
If you get there before I do
Oh, yes, Lord, don’t forget to tell all my friends I’m coming too
Oh, yes, Lord, still…
Low Ding Zone, the World’s First Bass-Only Handbell Ensemble, went through a rather strange time one year. We started with four ringers, and within a couple of months expanded to seven. We were working on Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen, and so rather than let it go, I just adjusted it by adding more parts!
Preview of septet version:
Four/five ringers | Price: $25.00 US Score package includes full score and separated handbell part scores. |
Six ringers | Price: $25.00 US Score package includes full score and separated handbell part scores. |
Seven ringers | Price: $25.00 US Score package includes full score and separated handbell part scores. |
Also available for 8 handbells.
Purchasing this score gives you permission to print and maintain the number of copies needed by your ensemble – so you only need to pay once. Purchase also gives permission for performance, broadcasting, live-streaming and video-sharing online. See our licensing agreement for full details, and please remember to mention the title and arranger of the piece on video-sharing sites, social media and any printed materials such as concert programs.

Are the LDZ “Nobody Knows” actually different arrangements, or just different assignments for the same piece? Not sure how many bodies I want to involve, but I do want to do that piece!
Thanks,

Hi Mark,
Over Low Ding Zone’s history, we’ve had different numbers of ringers while maintaining several pieces during that time, so it was necessary to rework pieces like “Nobody Knows” for us to be able to play them. You benefit from that by being able to select the version that’s scored for the number of ringers you have. In this case, too, the difference has been in the numbers of bells and chimes being played.
