Bright Eyes is a reminder that we need to let our light shine in this world so that others can see the Lord through our lives (Matthew 5:16). It’s fitting that the clue is in the title: Linda has a condition where some of her pigment cells are going dormant; the clue was pretty apparent to Rhoda Ekmekji, who asked if it was Linda’s song. “Why?” “Because she has bright eyes.” [Yes, I did ask for Linda’s permission to write the clue into the song, and she was very gracious in acquiescing to the request.]
Bright Eyes had a completely different introduction the morning of the day it was released. As I was walking out the door, God collared me and moved me to sit down at the computer to rewrite introduction. The original introduction is now lost forever, and the one on the score is a much better fit with the song: among other things, it also is a better picture of Linda’s personality.
