Brian served with Living Water, first as a tenor, then later as a baritone. He’s another example of commitment and diligence, and God has blessed me tremendously through his being part of our ministry (isn’t that the only way you’d want it to be?)!
Sometimes it takes someone with “that special spark” to get something going. Brian definitely is one of those people – he’s encouraging, kind, and caring all at once, and really “does his best to do his duty to God and his country” – he also is an Eagle Scout. The “special spark” part is a little like the account of the Emmaus disciples… after the Crucifixion they left Jerusalem and headed for Emmaus. Jesus met them on the way, but they didn’t recognize Him. And then because of their unbelief, the Savior then preached to them all of what was in Scripture concerning Himself – and then, at the table, He broke the bread, and they recognized Him. And then the disciples understood, and recognized Him, and headed back to Jerusalem to tell everyone else the good news which they’d received!
The clue is another anagram – “an ember emerging” => “Brian Emmenegger”.
Two disciples on Emmaus road meet a stranger on the way,
They marvel He seems not to know what happened yesterday,
How their master had been crucified on a charge which was a lie,
How the Romans, priests, and people had sentenced Him to die.
He opens up the Scriptures, and explains through history
That He’s far more aware than they, for He’s the prophecy
Of everything that’s happened, and, as He breaks the bread,
They see their Lord and Master risen from the dead.
Didn’t our hearts burn when the Savior walked beside us?
Didn’t glory seem closer than ever before?
As if from darkness, as if from cold,
An ember emerging to burn bright and bold
is the flame in souls redeemed, renewed, restored!
Didn’t our hearts yearn when the Savior shared His Word with us?
Didn’t joy explode within our needy souls?
Victory from ashes, glory from dust,
To Jesus Christ our lives we entrust,
He is King, and God, and everlasting Lord!
Two disciples run back down Emmaus road to Jerusalem to tell
That Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death and hell,
How eternal life awaits us if to Him we give our all,
How the world must hear and heed the Savior’s gracious call.
Shouldn’t our hearts burn when the Savior walks beside us?
Shouldn’t glory seem closer than ever before?
As if from darkness, as if from cold,
An ember emerging to burn bright and bold
is the flame in souls redeemed, renewed, restored!
Shouldn’t our hearts yearn when the Savior shares His Word with us?
Shouldn’t joy explode within our needy souls?
Victory from ashes, glory from dust,
To Jesus Christ our lives we entrust,
He is King, and God, and everlasting Lord!
