When times are hard, and despair overtakes me,
When the curse and law weigh heav’ly on my mind,
When disaster looms and those closest forsake me,
When I long for light, but perceive that I’m blind …
When truth appears to yield to deception,
When clouds of steel obliterate the sun,
When hope and peace escape my perception,
When I wish for flight, but have no place to run …
And so I find Your peace dispels my fears,
My confidence in You is unbounded,
And so I find that when You are near,
In You my life is unshakingly founded.
