Praise His Name Forevermore was a rebuild of the original ladies’ trio song. Alison Noble, whose mom was one of the trio members, asked if I’d recast it for Living Water. This, incidentally, is the only LWCP song which has been performed in SATB, SSA, and trumpet trio arrangement.
The essence of this song is that it drives, and drives, and drives. There’s not much room to relax except during the bridge, for which a reading of Psalm 150 is included. The syncopation is nearly continuous, especially on the line “Praise His name, O earth and sky…” And there is a final psychological twist in that the final chord is on the downbeat (i.e. not syncopated), there making the listener feel a “pseudosyncopation.”
This song also is available as an SSA arrangement.
Oh, serve the Lord, give praise to His holy name,
Give Him all honor, bring Him laud,
Oh, worship Him with all of your spirit,
Glorify Him, for He is God!
Praise His Name forevermore!
Praise His Name forevermore!
Praise His Name forevermore!
Praise His Name forevermore!
Trust in the Lord, your life dedicate to Him,
Follow Him truly when He calls,
Obey His Word in every endeavor,
When He’s your Guide, you’ll never fall!
O love the Lord with all of the being,
He is the ever-worthy One,
Fall on your knees before His glory,
Worship the Father, Spirit, Son!
He is the Lord, worthy of honor,
Give Him His rightful place.
He is our God, our strength and banner,
Give Him all glorious praise,
Give Him praise,
Give Him all the praise evermore!
