Serving God requires each of us to make some very personal – and difficult – choices. Actually, there is only one actual decision to make; we must take our stand for the Lord or against Him. As we read Luke 9:23-27, Philippians 1:21, and so many passages in Acts, the conclusion is inescapable: God will not settle for less than our all.
It is one thing to make a contribution to an offering plate; it is quite different to commit oneself to the Lord of the universe. But if you’re talking about eternity and whether it matters to you, the only decision that matters is the one which addresses the totality of your being. And if you’re looking forward to spending that eternity with God, then there is no other reasonable course aside from dedicating your life to Him.
The clue in this song is a bit fuzzy (sometimes they turn out that way, and so make solving them difficult, if not impossible): the gist of the message is keyed to the meaning of “Paige,” which is derived in one context from a word which means servant (possibly from a Greek word which is specifically translated “child servant”).
When Jesus Christ died for us on Calvary’s tree,
He ransomed us from our sin and made us free,
And our response to Him must be one of love,
To give ourselves to serve Him who evermore reigns above.
We must pay the price of sacrifice as we honor Christ our King,
We must give Him praise through all our days in every way and everywhere and everything,
So to the Lord of Lords be true, give Him all the glory,
And bring Him all you are and do as your sacrifice!
When Jesus Christ comes from heaven to take us home,
He’ll change our bodies to ones just like His own,
We’ll glorify Him for His transcendent worth,
And we will live for Him as we should have lived here on earth.
