The message of Jesus Paid It All goes far beyond the title. True enough, He gave Himself to pay the penalty of our sins, but the hymn text also intimates that we have an infinite debt to Him that goes along with receiving the free gift that He offers. Of course… it’s impossible to repay an infinite debt, and so the chorus says:
I hear the Savior say, Thy strength indeed is small,
Child of weakness, watch and pray; find in Me thine all in all.”
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
Lord, now indeed I find Thy pow’r and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots and melt the heart of stone.
For nothing good have I whereby Thy grace to claim;
I’ll wash my garments white in the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.
And when, before the throne, I stand in Him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save,” my lips shall still repeat.

Would you please let me know the range of the SSA parts in this piece?

Hi Rebecca,
The vocal range of the SSA parts in “Jesus Paid It All” is G# below middle C to high G (so, almost two octaves). It should be possible to work around some of the very low notes by omitting them (and consequently doubling two voices together momentarily).
Thank you for asking!
