Church Calendar: Holy Week, Easter

Men’s Quartet score: $20.00 US
Accompaniment track: $10.00 US

In March 1988, Les Nederveld, our baritone, and I were talking about the upcoming Easter service at De Anza College’s Flint Center. Les thought it would be great to for the quartet to sing there, and decided to ask our music minister if he could fit us into the program. “But Les, we don’t have any music ready.” “Don’t worry; you’ll think of something.” 😀

Since I was now under the gun to produce something which didn’t yet exist, I picked this hymn and did what I could as the choir sat in the loft in the morning service. Les claimed he could see and hear my mental wheels turning… The first draft of this arrangement actually was ready by our next rehearsal, and it went off without a hitch on Easter morning. There truly is power in the blood, and God blessed us through His provision of this arrangement.

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood,
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb,
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passing and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood,
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide,
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood,
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow,
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

There is power in the blood of the Lamb!
